Lots of Pizza Inside Bars / Breweries in Your Future
I can't help it, it's the way the news breaks. Also the horoscopes are back!
Bread / Pizza / Mercato Pop-Up at Tina’s Bar
Imagine a world where you can pop into a little storefront between the hours of 10am and 2pm and browse wares, wines, other items you’d find in a mercato-type environment and, most relevant to this newsletter, pizza. And what if that pizza was expertly made? That sounds tremendous. But in todays world there’s simply no way that would happen. Who would host such a thing…
But wait! It is happening and it’s happening multiple times in the month of December. Tina’s bar is hosting this event on December 10th, 17th and the 24th from 10am - 2pm. This is officially titled “Forno Brenci Saturday Bread and Brunch.” The only details I found on the event are from the menu at Tina’s and after a few Pisco Punches I reached out to Chef Daniele Brenci who is headlining the event.
Daniele Brenci is an expert bread and pizza maker who recently wrote a book titled Advanced Bread Making at Home. His pizza looks divine, a treat sent from the gods above. Imagine being the hero that brings a few slices of his Romana pizza to whatever holiday event you’re attending. People would talk about how you arrived with the exuberance of a proud Santa, a sack full of the finest pizza in town for all the good boys and girls.
Maybe I’ll see you at Tina’s one of the upcoming Saturdays!
Dancing Gnome Gets a Permanent Pizza Resident
Back in July I reached out to Luke Cypher of Blue Sparrow to talk to him what his plan was for Pizza Alley. He said he had something special in the works and we’d chat when everything was set in stone. At the time he was cranking out unique, fantastical pizzas that would make the likes of Willy Wonka blush. His creativity and passion couldn't be contained to a single pizza alley. There was no doubt he yearned for more.
Lo and behold this story about Blue Sparrow setting up permanent pizza (and dumpling??) shop at Dancing Gnome in Sharpsburg. An already stellar brewery getting a permanent delicious pizza shop? Say no more. Every brewery needs an equally excellent food partner. My dad plans his life by what food truck will be at a brewery and I know that I carefully cross-reference brewery and Foodtruck once a weekend. I imagine my efforts to navigate to the right venue are equal to how sailors studied an atlas before embarking on a month-long journey of scurvy and sirens.
Pizza Parma Gives Away 90 Pizzas on Thanksgiving
Pretty cool of Pizza Parma to give away pizzas on Thanksgiving. I met the owner of Pizza Parma at Pizza Expo a few years ago and he was incredibly nice, generous with his time and eager to talk pizza. He has not stopped refining and improving his pizza since opening up shop and great to see him giving back to the community.
Pizza Horoscopes
Peppero (January 1st – February 22nd): Grease can be a hazard or it can be a fuel. You choose how to best utilize the slimy, sludgy substance. Will you harness its essence to power your next move or find yourself slipping and sliding across the floor like a cartoon.
Mozzini (February 23rd – May 9th): As you assess your garden, what are you looking for? Cheese doesn’t grow in the ground, make sure you’re looking for your bounty in the right place. It could be under your nose, under your toes, or some place you forgot about long ago.
Dougheo (May 10th – July 4th): Concentrating on creating sucks up a lot of energy. You’re always looking to build something bigger and better, something that might be the eighth or ninth wonder of the world. I’m not saying don’t do that, just make sure you’re properly fueled.
Sicilaurus (July 5th – November 6th): Exploring the deep, depths of caverns can yield many rewards. But treasure is only as good as your exit plan. While you can sneak and snoop into large, vacuous caves picking treasures of mozzarella and pepperoni, make sure you can find your way out.
Greasonis (November 7th – December 31st): The colder season is your time to shine. Get outside, march up and down the sidewalk declaring all your favorite things to your neighbors. Tell them about your favorite slice of pizza, a new topping you tried. It’s time to get boisterous.
Wow what an update! Thanks for taking the time to read this
Please consider sharing or telling all your pizza friends. It’s not every day you come across a newsletter featuring a cornucopia of pizza horoscopes. How cool is that?
Pizza ya later!
